On April 17th, the Mountain States RHEC hosted the webinar “Advancing Health Equity through Cultural Competency,” which offered insights into the design and sustainability of culturally competent businesses and nonprofits. During the event 107 attendees represented 28 states, the District of Columbia, the Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico.

Presenters included Mountain State RHEC member Renee Gamino, Associate Director at AARP Wyoming; Susana Centeno Perez, Women’s Health Coordinator for Region VIII; and Mailyn Salabarria, Community Outreach Coordinator and Translations Associate at One World Translation. Their presentations explored the skills, protocols, and structures that integrate culturally appropriate methods for working with patients and employees in an effort to advance health equity.
